Enrique Muñoz García, born in Chile in 1969, is a photographer, multimedia artist, collector and curator. He studied art and drawing at the Universidad Católica of Chile. He has lived and worked in Switzerland since 1998. His work focuses on long-term personal and political projects as well as editorial work for various newspapers and magazines. Thematically, he concentrates on people and their complex relationship to society. Muñoz García's works bear witness to a subtle mixture of documentation and art. Er has exhibited his work at the Venice Biennale, the Istanbul Biennale, the Center for Fine Art Photography, USA, the Photomonth Festival, Poland, and the Centre PasquArt for the Bieler Fototage, among others.

Since 2012 Muñoz García has been part of the artist group Nine Dragon Heads and has participated in art symposia within the group at specific complex locations such as Aral Sea/Uzbekistan; Amazonas/Brazil and in the demilitarized zone in South Korea. He has received several international awards such as the Grimme Online Award, the Prix de la Photographie de Paris and the European Newspaper Award, as well as several nominations and grants for his projects.

As a curator and art mediator, Enrique Muñoz García is co-founder of the Galerie Lokal-int. in Biel in 2006 and founder and curator of the Public Art Space, which has also existed in Biel since 2010. Artists such as Joan Fontcuberta, Peter Aerschmann, Rainer Ganahl and Com&Com have presented their works in Juraplatz. Other curatorial works include the exhibition "Women with Binoculars", which was created especially for the Bieler Fototage 2019 in collaboration with the renowned Magnumphotos agency from Paris/New York.

As a collector, Enrique Muñoz García has an archive with more than 20 000 found photos. On this basis, he organized his personal exhibition "Women with Beetles" at the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, Germany, in 2015. The rest of the photographic material is currently being processed; new works such as "Christianisation in Africa / 1915-1930", "Fade Out, Cliches from the American Press / 2020, and others are being created.

In 2019 Enrique Muñoz García presented his multimedia work "Die Welt in Biel / Le monde à Bienne" at the invitation of the artist Thomas Hirschhorn as part of the "Robert Walser Sculpture" in Biel. "The world im Biel" is a series of more than 100 interviews based on the question Why did you come to Biel?

Enrique Muñoz García has collaborated with artists, such as the electronic duo Strom (Gaudenz Badrutt and Christian Müller), Peter Zacek, Phil Dadson, Susanne Muller, Park Byoung Uk and Bruce Allan.

His work is regularly supported by private individuals as well as by institutions such as the Stanley Thomas Johnson Foundation, Landis + Gyr Foundation, Migros Kulturprozent, City of Biel and SWISSLOS/Culture Canton Bern.
